Great ride today from Berlin MD to Assateague! I was so happy to see this on the calendar and it was awesome.
We had 11 riders at about a 15mph pace for 30 miles.
Berlin MD is such a great town to start from, and once we got to Assateague, needless to say, the views were just gorgeous and the winds were kind.
We saw some horses, stopped a bit to catch the spectacular views and enjoyed the ride.
Afterwards, lunch and ice cream in Berlin.
Great ride! Great day!
Come on out and join us!

Gail Seligson, Randy Kubetin, Steve Mahaney, and Steve Detharage manned the Bike Smart tent on July 29th at Epworth church - and aided about 25 of the J1 Students from Kazakstan, Turkey, Belarus, and Thailand. Good job team!
Diane Phillips LaGuerre, David Wellborn, Randy Kubetin, and John Fiori manned our Safety Check booth on July 21 at Rt 1 and the Nike Store. We have only four more opportunities this summer so be sure to sign up for these worthwhile events!
Thanks to all who help - some of you more than once!

BEWARE! Bikers, walkers, and traffic coming through the bike trail on Sweetbriar Road in Lewes. The blinking lights no longer work. You have to push the button to activate the lights to stop traffic. I have repeatedly called DelDot about this. The lights have been out for almost 4 weeks. I was only told today that DelDot Community Relations decided you need to activate the sensor button. I have seen biker, walkers, and traffic not stop when they approach that intersection at the bike trail. Visibility is limited with the full grown corn growth and the trees in full bloom. Sean said there is nothing more he can do but pass this on to Community Relations. He said I could try calling them myself to do something or put signage up. How is a biker supposed to stop and press the button? I will take further action to prevent injury.
Jm Futrell, Heidi Lerch, Kathryn Imhoff, and John Fiori taking a break from helping more than 20 J1 students with bike accessories and tune-ups at the Lutheran Church behind Big Fish Grill. The folks at the church were extremely helpful and gracious. Nice work team! (Yes, it was very hot!)
Steve Klein, Steve Grandinali, John Fiori, Chris Braudy, and Dave Kirchman manned the tent at the Lewes Library this evening and helped cyclers from as far away as Brazil. None of us spoke Portuguese but we made out just fine anyway.

Every year, Sussex Cyclists teams up with DelDOT and State Police to host bicycle safety checkpoints offering repairs, lights, helmets, and safety info to the public. Below is this year's schedule.
No special skills needed—just a willingness to help! Tasks may include handing out materials, making minor bike adjustments, and installing lights or reflective tape.
These events are also a great way for members to connect, socialize, and bring guests along to get involved. It's a fun, rewarding experience for all!

Attached are photos from today. We had a smaller group than usual, but everyone did a great job, and the cleanup was completed within our typical timeframe. The weather and temperature cooperated ... and we beat the summer heat! Our final 2025 event will be in the Fall.

On June 17, 11 club members cleaned up a 2 mile stretch of Cedar Creek Road in Milton in the DelDot Adopt a Highway project. Collected 11 bags of trash and made the roads look cleaner. Special thanks to Mike Savage for organizing this great event!
John Fiori, Lee Lerch, Tom Sheehan, Pat Miller, Randy Kubetin, and Jim Prettyman. It was a hot night but we survived and helped some bike riders coming through Rehoboth.
